Rutherford County Schools
Dr. Andrea Anthony will serve as the next assistant superintendent for Human Resources and Student Services for Rutherford County Schools, Director of Schools Don Odom announced today.
"Twelve years of experience as a high school principal and over 600 hours of Human Resource training uniquely creates an understanding of staffing challenges," Odom said of Dr. Anthony's experience. "These experiences will also make her an advocate for Rutherford County's high quality staff recruitment efforts."
Anthony succeeds long-time Assistant Superintendent Paula Barnes, who is retiring this month after 42 years of service to public education.
Barnes is credited with multiple advances while leading the department, including bolstering teacher recruitment efforts in one of the fastest growing school districts in Tennessee.
"Paula Barnes is highly respected and has done so much to move our Human Resources Department forward during her tenure," Odom said. "Dr. Anthony is a good match to continue and further that progress."
Anthony currently serves as the secondary coordinator for high schools in the district's Curriculum and Instruction Department, a position she has served in since the 2015-2016 school year. She previously served for 12 years as the principal of Page High School in Williamson County, where she led the school from being a state target school in 2003 to a National Blue Ribbon School in 2011.
Anthony said she is excited to join the human resources department, which oversees staffing of all certified and classified positions for the school district.
"I look forward to working with the human resources team to provide a comprehensive human capital management system encompassing leadership, performance excellence, strategic staffing, talent management and development, culture and total rewards," Anthony said. "The trust and teamwork that have been established with the administrators, teachers and support staff will help make this transition seamless."
Anthony will work alongside Barnes during the remainder of June.
A search for a new high school coordinator will begin immediately.
