A 39 year old man named Brian Watson has been arrested in Murfreesboro on a charge of "solicitation for rape of a child," according to official police reports.
The suspect, who lives in an apartment complex on Indian Park Drive, works for the Nashville Metro School System under their maintenance department.
Murfreesboro Detective Kristy Inglish with the Human Trafficking Division found an ad on Craigslist where a man was seeking a woman and her daughter to engage in sexual activity. Detective Tommy Roberts of the Murfreesboro Police Departments' Special Victims Unit took over the case and began communicating with the man who posted the ad. The Detective spoke to the subject online for six days before developing Brian Watson as the suspect.
The arrest report stated, "Mr. Watson, in great detail, solicited sex from a 12 year old girl." It was also arraigned to meet Watson at a fast food eatery in Murfreesboro. From there, Watson allegedly planned to take the child to a motel.
A total of 7 police officers and detectives set up a sting to capture Watson when he arrived at an arraigned meeting point. Once there, Watson entered the pre-agreed upon restaurant. Evidently, he had his 9 month old baby with him when he arrived.
Prior to officers moving in to make an arrest, Sgt. Katrina Henderson was posing as the mother to the fictitious 12 year old girl. Sgt. Henderson asked to hold the baby belonging to Watson and when the 9 month old was safe in her arms, police moved in and executed an arrest on the subject.
Because Watson reportedly brought his 9 month old with him in the commission of a felony, the Department of Children Services were called and updated on the case.
The man will appear in court on September 28, 2017. As of late Wednesday night (8/30/17), Watson was still behind bars.
