"Rutherford's Got Talent" and United Way Benefits!

Rutherford County government employees and those with the county school system joined together at 6:00 o'clock Thursday night (11/3/2011) for the "2011 Rutherford's Got Talent", a fund raiser for United Way.

Glowstick Girls #1

The Glowstick Girls were one of many acts that captured the audience's attention. This group of Rockvale Elementary teachers performed in total darkness. All you could see was stick figures moving to the beat of the music. They took the number one position in the performance.

The Sensations #2

Much of the staff in the County Court Clerk's office put-on flapper era outfits and surprised everyone with unique moves. It was so creative that this troupe was just a few points away from the Glowsticks.

Men In Black #3

Not one Johnny Cash, but one on guitar and another to sing. Smyrna Middle School teachers Brian Seadorf and Forrest Smith did a medley of Cash hits.

The judges for the evening were: Judge Donna Davenport, Bernard Salandy, Chantho Sourinho, Vicki Taylor and Bart Walker.

Elvis Arrived

For decades rumors have circulated that a familiar looking man searching for jelly filled donuts was living in Eagleville. That folktail took on credibility as Elvis intro music suddenly started playing and a mystery guest ran down the aisleway. Once on stage, and the celebrity started to sing--there was no doubt. Some say it was School Resource Officer Dick Peach, but for this reporter--I know who it really was!

Thank You CAROLYN HOLT

As the final curtain was about to be drawn, Terry Cunningham asked for Carolyn Davenport to come on stage. As she approached, this young woman from the county mayor's office got a standing ovation for chairing Rutherford's Got Talent. A bouquet of flowers was presented to her.

Chamber's Guitar Autographed By Keith Urban

The prize auction item was an electric guitar from Chamber's and autographed by country music super-star Keith Urban. Smyrna Middle School teacher Terri Fenn was the top bidder. Her $380 check went to help United Way and she walked away with a treasure. And yes, Terri does play the guitar.
