In 2016, the City of Murfreesboro agreed to purchase the building used by Franklin Synergy Bank for $1.55 million. The bank was housed in the old First Methodist Church building in downtown Murfreesboro at the intersection of North Church and East Castle Streets. The structure, that has an old bell tower, dates back to 1888. Now, the city council is tasked with deciding what to do with the property.

Five firms have submitted ideas or proposals on what to do with the old First Methodist Church building off the Murfreesboro square. Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland stated...

You may recall, First Methodist sold the property in 2003 and built a new building on Thompson Lane. Mid South Bank purchased the property from the church, utilized the structure for several years before Franklin Synergy bought out the local bank. Franklin Synergy decided to sell the building when they built a new office in the Medical Center Parkway area.

Again, use of the historic First Methodist Church building has not yet been decided.
