No charges filed against Smyrna woman who accidentally struck pedestrian

A woman from Smyrna, TN accidentally struck and killed a man on Interstate 24 this past weekend. Evidently, the man who was hit by the motorist pulled his car to the shoulder of the road, got out and allegedly sat down in the middle of the interstate.

The pedestrian hit Saturday (1/13/18) evening on I-24 West near Hickory Hollow Parkway has been identified as 28 year old Marlon Soliz-Hernandez of Nashville.

The preliminary investigation shows that Soliz-Hernandez, for reasons unknown, stopped on the right shoulder of the Interstate and exited a Toyota Pickup truck. He appeared to have been either sitting or lying down in the far right lane of I-24 West when he was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Marian Akinsete, 23. Akinsete, of Smyrna, reported that she did not see Soliz-Hernandez prior to the collision.

No charges are anticipated against Ms. Akinsete.

Toxicology testing on a blood sample from Soliz-Hernandez will be performed by the medical examiner.
