Rutherford County Explorer Post reunites a missing 4-year old with his mother. Explorer Capt. Malia Xanachack, Explorer Cpl. Patrick Burns, and RCSO Deputy Andy Pugh share the story of how these Scouts made a difference with one family at the Great Tennessee Air Show.

The Explorers are a division of the Boy Scouts of America and open to students high school through age 21. Deputy Pugh noted that students can sign-up between the 8th grade and high school. In fact, they can do this anytime throughout the year.

The sheriff's post trains area youth to do police investigative work as well as traffic stops and more. It also teaches "life skills", strong ethics, communication skills (writing and speaking) and much more.

In fact, the WINTERFEST this coming February in Gatlinburgh offers competition between regional explorer groups dealing with fire, police and military organizations.
