A non jury trial is slated for April 25 that will decide the fate of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro. If Chancellor Robert Corlew decides that acceptable public notice about the mosque was given by Rutherford County Planners, then construction will continue. If it is deemed that public notice was not properly given, then construction will screech to a halt.
As far as progress goes on the Veals Road Islamic Center, the foundation has been poured and steel beams to support the building have been erected. Once complete, the building will be 50,000 square feet in size.
The Islamic Center of Murfreesboro is currently in the midst of a fundraising effort to pay for the structure. To date, the center has raised $1.3-million. Their goal is to raise $1.8-million.
