Bill to Strengthen Synthetic Drugs Gains Momentum

A bill to strengthen laws outlawing synthetic drugs is gaining momentum in the state House. It's currently only a mistemanor to sale the synthetics, a bill sponsored by Representative Mike Sparks of Smyrna. He sponsored legislation last year that would make the sale of the drugs, like 7-H, Molly's Plant Food and bath salts, a felony. That bill failed because of the half-million dollar fiscal note that would be required to prosecute and house the criminals. Sparks tells WGNS he's gathered bi-partisan support this year to make sale of synthetic drugs a felony...

Democrat State Representative Mike Turner and Republican Curry Todd are among the lawmakers signing on to Sparks bill.
