(MURFREESBORO) 33-year old Marcus Johnson was arrested and multiple stolen firearms recovered following the robbery and shooting of a Murfreesboro man this past Wednesday (6/24/2020) at Forest Oaks II condominiums on East Northfield Boulevard. There are also active warrants for a second suspect.
Johnson was arrested shortly after the crime and charged with especially aggravated burglary and theft over $2,500.
The preliminary investigation reveals that suspects Johnson and Smith approached a woman outside, held her at gunpoint, and then forced her inside her townhome on Northfield Blvd. shortly before 2:00 o'clock last Wednesday afternoon.
The two allegedly shot the woman’s 58-year-old boyfriend in the arm, who was inside the townhome. After that, the duo took several long guns from cabinet and fled the scene in a silver Nissan Altima.
Inside the home, a Murfreesboro police officer applied a tourniquet to the man’s arm to stop the bleeding until medical assistance arrived.
The shooting victim was treated on-the-scene by members of the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County Medical Services. He was rushed to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
Officers saturated the area and observed a vehicle parked at a home on East Sevier Street that matched the description from the victim. Police found several weapons taken in the robbery lying in the back yard of that house. The suspect was not there, but later returned. Police were waiting, and they cuffed Johnson took him into custody once he returned.
Marcus Johnson is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $79,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Rutherford County General Sessions Court on September 3, 2020.
The incident is under investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Murfreesboro Police Department.
