Only 34.7% of the unemployment claims filed since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic have been approved and paid in the Volunteer State.

To date, over 759,000 unemployment claims were filed in Tennessee since the start of the pandemic. Of that number, less than half were actually approved by administrators.

On a positive note, the department of labor reports that the number of new jobless claims came in at 19,461 last week. That number is down by over 6,300 when compared to the number of new unemployment claims the previous week that ended on July 18th.

So far, $246,276,467 has been paid to those approved to receive unemployment in Tennessee during the pandemic.
