Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Red Onions

Multiple states, including Tennessee, are reporting people becoming sick from salmonella linked to red onions.

The FDA reports Thomson International out of California notified the agency that it would recall all varieties of onions that could have come into contact with the contaminated red onions.

Salmonella illnesses have been reported in 30 states, including Tennessee. Over 400 people have become sick.

Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) is a common bacterial disease that affects the intestinal tract. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps within eight to 72 hours.
