Goodwill Career Solutions will host two unique hiring events on Thursday, Aug. 6 — one on the information superhighway and the other on a driveway.
From 2-4 p.m., a Virtual Job Fair including employers Aegis Science Corporation and Metro Action Commission will be conducted via Zoom, the internet video communications application. Job-seekers can participate from their home computers or using computers at Goodwill Career Solutions centers at 937 Herman St., Nashville; 1985 Providence West Parkway, Mt. Juliet; or 2955 S. Church St., Murfreesboro.
Aegis’ openings include assistant maintenance technician, laboratory aide and accessioning technician. Metro Action Commission openings include early Head Start teacher, Head Start teacher assistant, early education coach/trainer, bus driver and other positions.
From 3:30-7 p.m., a Drive-Thru Hiring Event will be held at Goodwill’s Lifsey Career Solutions Center, 937 Herman St. in Nashville for G4S Security Solutions. The company is seeking armed and unarmed security guards for jobs around the Nashville Metropolitan area.
G4S representatives will greet job-seekers at their vehicles to take applications, and, in some cases, to conduct on-the-spot interviews.
Rates of pay for jobs being offered at both events reach $17 per hour. Participants should have on hand a resume, photo ID and Social Security card or birth certificate. They should dress for success and be prepared to complete job applications and to interview.
Drive-thru and virtual hiring events are among several new tools Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee is using to help people find employment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“With so many people out of work, our mission of changing lives through education, training and employment is more vital now than ever,” said Matt Gloster, Goodwill’s vice president of mission advancement. “We are focused on providing those free services in ways that protect the health and safety of our Career Solutions clients and employees, and these new approaches give us additional tools to do that.”
Goodwill is also still holding in-person hiring events, with careful observance of social distancing and other health precautions, such as the wearing of face coverings, at its eight Career Solutions centers across middle and west Tennessee. The Clarksville Career Solutions center at 2001 Needmore Road will host an in-person hiring event for Schneider trucking on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
