UPDATE: Possible gun found on Wednesday Could be Tied to April 2020 Veterans Parkway Shooting

Sep 23, 2020 at 02:00 pm by WGNS

A gun found near a local roadway on Wednesday morning (9/23/20) maybe tied to the shooting that took place on Veterans Parkway this past April, according to an undisclosed source.

Looking back to the shooting, a 42-year old woman was shot and seriously injured around 11:15 on the morning of April 23, 2020, while driving her car on Veterans Parkway. The shooting was beleived to be random and not a targeted situation.

At last report, WGNS was told that Rutherford County Sheriff Detective Jamin Humphress has been checking all leads, but feels there is information that still has not been divulged about the woman being shot inside her rechargeable Tesla vehicle.

Earlier Central Intelligence Division Lt. Todd Sparks said, "We believe that she was shot by a suspect in another vehicle".

If the gun that was recovered on Wednesday morning is tied to the shooting on April 23, 2020, then it could lead Sheriff Detectives to the suspect. However, it has not yet been confirmed through sources like the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation that the gun found on Wednesday is the gun used in the crime. In fact, it could take up to two weeks or longer to make the confirmation.

If you saw anything or have heard information, please contact Rutherford County Sheriff Detective Humphress at 615-904-3054.
