(MARYVILLE, TN) United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released a statement regarding President Trump's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy created by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
Senator Alexander said, "I have voted to confirm Justices Roberts, Alito, Sotomayor, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh based upon their intelligence, character and temperament. I will apply the same standard when I consider Judge Barrett's nomination to replace Justice Ginsburg."
Judge Amy Coney Barrett currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Judge Barrett was confirmed by the Senate on October 31, 2017, by a vote of 55 to 43.
Senator Alexander supported Judge Barrett's nomination to the Seventh Circuit.
