(MURFREESBORO - UPDATE) Emergency 911 operators received the first call at 11:54 Wednesday morning (10/7/2020). The call was in regards to a 3-vehicle crash involving a dump truck, mini-van and pickup truck on I-24 near the New Salem Highway exit (Highway 99, mile marker 79).

64-Year old Phillip Floyd Winters of Arrington was entering I-24 westbound in a Chevrolet pickup truck when he ran across three lanes of traffic into the path of a dump truck. The dump truck was driven by 77-year-old Stanley Ciezkowski of Murfreesboro. It flipped, spilling its load onto I-24. The pickup truck was then forced into a Honda Odyssey minivan being driven by Taylor Perry, who spun out of control and into the median wall.

Ciezkowski, who was operating the dump truck, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Troopers confirmed he had serious injuries, but was listed in stable condition.

Winters, who was driving the pickup truck that lost control, was taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with minor injuries.

Taylor Perry, who was behind the wheel of the minivan, was not injured.

No word on what caused the driver of the pickup truck to lose control, which is believed to have caused the dump truck and minivan to wreck on I-24 Wednesday.
