(MURFREESBORO)  An early Wednesday morning (2/10/2021) crash involving two big rgs on I-24 westbound (toward Nashville) wreaked havoc to morning drive time traffic at the Joe B Jackson Parkway exit (mile marker 84).

According to the accident report, 65-year old Donald Garner of Dalton, Georgia, told Trooper Ramsey that he began to fall asleep.

32-year old Kimbi Henry Rashad Sutton said that he could see the driver approaching from behind without slowing down. Moments later, Garner's White single trailer rig allegedly rear-ended the double trailer, also pulled by a White semi, out of Palmetto, Georgia.

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services treated Garner on-the-scene and then took him to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

The report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol shows that Garner was charged with "failure to exercies due care". No charges were filed against Sutton.

Trooper Ramsey's report shows that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
