Severe Weather Possible Today and Overnight

A St. Patrick's Day severe weather outbreak is underway in the South and Middle Tennessee could see some rough storms.

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has part of Rutherford County in a level two of five for severe weather chances. Areas to the southwest of the area are in a higher risk area. In neighboring Mississippi and Alabama, they're expecting the possiblity of long-tracked tornadoes.

For the mid-state, a lot of how severe storms will be will depend on the midday storms associated with a warm front. If those storms push on through and the warm front lifts northward, that could lead to destabilization of the atmosphere and more severe potential. Several hours of clearing and warming temperatures could prime the atmosphere for evening and overnight storms. High winds, hail and a few tornadoes could be in the cards if this occurs.

Be sure to have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings today and through the overnight. We will continue to update you on-air and online on severe weather possibilities this afternoon and overnight.
