Former nationally syndicated talk show host G. Gordon Liddy has passed away at age 90.

Liddy, a key figure in the Watergate scandal who later became a popular radio talk host, spent many years on WGNS Radio. His show began in 2003 and remained on the air until July 27th, 2012 when he signed off the air:

Liddy spent 30-years on the air, the last several on WGNS. He was convicted of his role in the Watergate scandal and spent 52-months in a federal prision. The former FBI agent, Liddy was considered the mastermind of a plot to place wiretaps inside Democratic National Committee’s headquarters at the Watergate building in 1972.

He made several visits to Murfreesboro to do his talk show and broadcast from WGNS studios. Later that day, he visited personal friend Ronnie Barrett at Barrett Firearms.

Liddy's retirement in 2012 left a void in WGNS programming, which was filled by former Sheriff Truman Jones.
