A bird that was stolen is one of several “OPEN” theft cases in the City of Murfreesboro. Apparently, the bird was not just any of our many flying friends in the community, it was an $1,100 Indian Ringneck Parakeet.

The baby Parakeet was heisted from Animal City on NW Broad Street.

Police say that an unknown male and female entered the “Employee Only” area of the store around 5:25 in the evening on May 18th. They located the bird and the male concealed it in the front pocket of his shorts. The two quickly fled the store after gaining their new feathered companion.

The bird is valued at $1,195.

If you know where the bird can be found today or if you recognize the individuals pictured, contact MPD Detective Ed Gorham at 629-201-5507. You can also email crime tips to crimetips@murfreesborotn.gov.
