(MURFREESBORO)  This community has lost another caring leader. Long time Beesley Animal Foundation Executive Director Amanda Oliver passed away Wednesday (6/2/2021) as a result of an aneurysm.

She was a native of Murfreesboro and a member of the Central High School class of 1965.

Amanda had a deep love and appreciation of both children and animals.

In fact, her first profession was education. She was an elementary school teacher in both New York and Connecticut. In addition, she would passionately talk about her dozen years of teaching youngsters in the Bahamas.

True to her passion for animals, she served on the boards of the Humane Society and Ferrell Hollow Farms Senior Horse Sanctuary. She has also been the Executive Director of the Beesley Animal Foundation since 2003.

The foundation oversees the Beesley Animal Clinic, which first opened in Murfreesboro in 1992. The non-profit is primarily a spay neuter clinic that is dedicated to decreasing the suffering caused by pet overpopulation. She was a regular guest on WGNS News Radio, telling about the work at the Beesley Clinic.

Oliver was also an active member of the Murfreesboro Rotary Club. She believed strongly in the civic group’s motto, “Service Above Self”. Also, it was through this civic organization that she got to know Past Rotary President John Hinkle. He is involved in springer spaniel dog rescue efforts, and the connection grew to Rev. Dr. Hinkle, pastor of Murfreesboro First Presbyterian, doing Beesley’s annual Blessing of the Pets ceremony.
