In 2018, the Murfreesboro Police Department examined the idea of utilizing body cameras for their officers. However, the idea never panned out.
That same year, the nearby city of Lebanon, Tennessee approved the $65,000 purchase of 100-body cameras. Officers started using the cameras by December of 2018.
Now, the City of Murfreesboro is once again moving towards the use of body cameras, with finances already approved to outfit officers with the cameras. However, it is not a quick process.

The cameras are costing the Police Department a little over $300-thousand and will likely be implemented within the next 12-months.
