UPDATE: We have an update to the fatal accident that occured this past Sunday (9/19/21) on I-24 in Nashville... The husband and wife fatally injured in the two-vehicle collision on Interstate-24 West near Haywood Lane are identified as 62-year-old Scott Whitmore and 58-year-old Melanie Whitmore of Topeka, Kansas.
The preliminary investigation shows that Scott Whitmore was driving his 2010 Honda Civic west on I-24 when, for reasons unknown, he lost control and struck the guardrail on the right shoulder. The car then traveled back into the roadway where it was struck by the driver of a 2017 Ford F-250, Graig Greaves, 51. The couple, who were both wearing their seatbelts, died at the scene. Greaves, of Wood Dale, Illinois, was not injured.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement in this fatal crash.
