(MURFREESBORO) On Tuesday afternoon (9/28/2021) a crowd gathered at the corner of Veterans Parkway and Shores Road for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Westlawn Hospital. This new facility will be the first neighborhood hospital in Tennessee.
Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital's President and CEO Gordon Ferguson told NewsRadio WGNS what the new complex would include .

In Nashville, Ascension Saint Thomas President and CEO Tim Adams said, "Ascension Saint Thomas is building a system of care in Middle Tennessee that supports access, convenience and our commitment to lowering the cost of care for those we are privileged to serve."

The estimated cost of the project is $24.6 million, with anticipated completion in early 2022.
