A double-murder case from 2017 has come to a close with a guilty plea that was recently filed in a Rutherford County courtroom.
Robert Jessie Mount opened fire on a man and two women in Woodbury, later fleeing the area and heading to Smyrna, Tennessee. The attack happened after Mount drove to Cannon County with the intent to burglarize the home of an acquaintance.

Almost an hour after the attack, the homeowner arrived at his house to find David Wooten sitting in a vehicle, dead. Authorities confirmed that Elizabeth Clement also died from her injuries sustained in the attack.
The third victim, Laura Jastre, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Mount was later spotted two large cuts on his hand and leg at StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, Tennessee. After leaving the hospital, he headed to his home where he was found by officers hiding under his staircase. Mount was arrested.
Reports indicate that the one surviving victim in the attack has recovered and helped the TBI piece together what happened. Laura Jastre even testified against Mount in court.
This past month (August 2021), Robert Mount plead guilty to 2-counts of first degree murder and 1-count of attempted first degree murder.
Mount, who was 36 when the murders occurred, was sentenced to life in prison. The subject will not be eligible for parole until he is 88-years-old, which adds up to 51-years from now.
