Rutherford County Traffic Safety Task Force members want families to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday together safely.

That’s why they are encouraging drivers to pay extra attention to driving before the holiday begins, said task force member Murfreesboro Police Lt. Greg Walker.

Task Force officers will remind drivers during the “Buckle Up, Slow Down and Stay Focused” enforcement from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19 in Murfreesboro.

“We want to encourage drivers to buckle up, slow down and stay focused,” Walker said. “The Task Force members will be looking for drivers not doing these things.”

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, black Friday shopping, and children out of school, obviously there are a lot more vehicles on the roadway.

“More vehicles on the road might mean a slower commute for drivers and it also means you really need to stay focused on the road to avoid being involved in a crash,” Walker said.
