The Rutherford County Schools have waived their mask requirements as the number of those infected with COVID-19 has declined.
In September, the Rutherford County School Board enacted a temporary mask requirement until which time the positivity rate in our county had fallen below 10% for three consecutive weeks. On Monday, the county reached that metric, based on the COVID-19 dashboard maintained by the state of Tennessee.
So beginning Tuesday (11/9/2021), the mask requirement policy for county schools has expired. James Evans, spokesperson for the schools told WGNS, “although parents are welcome to continue sending their children to school wearing masks, if they so choose.” The same applies to our employees and visitors.
