Murfreesboro, Tenn. - Murfreesboro Police investigated what was described as a road rage incident that occurred on October 30, 2021 and closed the case with theft charges being filed against one suspect.

Officers were dispatched to North Thompson Lane after receiving a call about the driver of a Jeep chasing another vehicle. The caller told dispatchers that the woman driving the Jeep had what appeared to be a gun.

Police spotted the Jeep and pulled the driver over as she neared the Stones River Battlefield, across from New Vision Baptist Church. The officer who made the traffic stop recognized the female and noted that she was driving on a revoked license and had two prior “Driving on Suspended License” charges.

During a police interview with the woman identified as Natasha Sellers, she reportedly told the arresting officer that she “found the Jeep in the Stones River Mall parking lot.” A police report shows that she claimed the Jeep was left unlocked and with a key in it.

Authorities traced down the owner of the SUV and learned that the vehicle had indeed been left in the mall parking lot the previous night. The owner said that she left the vehicle in the parking lot, because she had been drinking and got a ride home with a friend. The owner said that a key was hidden under the floorboard.

When police searched the vehicle, they found 1-gram of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. As a result, the 39-year-old woman caught driving the Jeep that belonged to someone else, was charged with Felony Theft, Possession of a Schedule II Drug and Driving on a Revoked License.

The 2016 Jeep Wrangler was retrieved by the rightful owner and the suspect caught behind the wheel of the vehicle will appear before the Rutherford County General Sessions Court on December 9, 2021.
