Murfreesboro, TN - Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee (MMBTN) is hosting their Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on World Prematurity Day, Wednesday November 17th, from 10am – 2pm Central Time. The Ribbon Cutting hosted by the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce will take place at 11am that day.

Statistics show that one in ten babies in TN are born too early and many of the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) need a jump start in life.  This jump start can come in the form of “liquid gold”, their mother’s own milk.  The good news is that moms across the state continue to donate milk to help those babies whose Mothers cannot provide milk for them.

Helping these little ones survive is the primary mission of MMBTN.  There are several ways that you can get involved.  Financial donations will be used to operate the facility and to purchase the additional equipment needed to process the milk.  All donations are tax deductible.   Donations of mother’s milk will continue to be needed and donations of time and resources are always appreciated.

Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee has entered into a 5 year lease at 2909 Old Fort Parkway in Murfreesboro, (Suite 105) managed by Autumn Plaza Partners.  This 3000 square foot facility is the first and only Human Mother’s Milk Pasteurization facility in the state of Tennessee and will serve multiple hospital NICUs across the Volunteer State.

MMBTN recently completed the Accreditation process required by HMBANA (Human Milk Bank Association of North America).  This accreditation confirms that standards of safety are followed and brings an additional level of accountability to the operations of MMBTN.
