Oakland in State Title Game after Defeating Maryville 24-14

The Oakland Patriots are headed to the Blue Cross Bowl for the second consecutive year and the third in four-years:

Oakland stymied Maryville's offense in the second half, allowing under 20-yards and only two possessions. Mr. Football finalist Jordan James finished the game with 155-yards while Antonio Patterson racked up close to 100-yards and two touchdowns. His first half run of 37-yards came after a Rebel turnover, the only one of the game. They did tie the game at 14 just before halftime.

However, Oakland's opening possession of the second half ended in an Avory Rogers 39-yard field goal which gave them the lead for good. Patterson's second touchdown with just under nine-minutes to play in the game was enough for the final margin of victory.

Quarterback Kade Hewitt was 3-for-3 passing for 109-yards and a touchdown.

Oakland will play last year's 5A state champion Summit in this year's Class 6A Blue Cross Bowl. Both teams are 14-0. The game will be played at UT-Chattanooga's Finley Stadium with a kickoff of 6pm Murfreesboro time (7pm Eastern). You'll be able to hear the game here on WGNS State Farm Prep Sports.
