2022 International Folkfest has been cancelled. Founder and Director Steve Cates told NewsRadio WGNS that the decision was made due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Cates explained, "At a time when the state shuts-down the university at a moment’s notice and air travel is halted without notice, Folkfest directors have voted to cancel the 2022 Folkfest that had previously been set for this summer, June 5-12, 2022." The popular event has been reschedule for 2023. Dates for 2023 International Folkfest have tentatively been set for June 4-11, 2023.
