Rutherford County SWAT Team recognized for flood response in Waverly

Sheriff’s SWAT Team members were honored as Officers of the Month for helping residents of Waverly and Humphreys County in the devastating floods last August.

The team was requested to help for several days. The team consisted of sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and paramedics.

The team did the following in Waverly, TN:

• Located flood victims.
• Checked homes for damages and needs.
• Treated an injured firefighter.
• Assessed roads.
• Provided residents with food, water and first aid.
• Comforted victims.
• Secured areas
• Conducted security for Gov. Bill Lee.

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh presented the awards to the team Wednesday. Other team members received awards last week.
