Motorist should use caution on Jefferson Pike this week in the Smyrna area as road work continues.
The contractor working with the state on the Jefferson Pike bridge over the Stones River is scheduled to set beams every day this week. If all goes according to plan, they will be finished setting the beams by the end of the day on March 25th, 2022.
Crews will be working on Jefferson Pike (State Route 266) daily between 9am and 3pm. Their plan is to stage & prep the beams along the side of the roadway near the SRM Concrete's headquarters. The Town of Smyrna reports that crews will transport and set beams one by one to minimize traffic delays as much as possible. Intermittent lane closures and full road closures will occur periodically.
WGNS will keep listeners and followers informed as the roadwork continues on Jefferson Pike.
