A short drive off of I-840 in Nolensville, Tennessee, the Nolensville Fire & Rescue department are planning to celebrate with a “Push-In” Ceremony. The event will officially put Fire Engine 16 into service.
Nolensville Fire & Rescue as well as the Town of Nolensville Board of Commissioners and Town Staff invite the community to the Town’s first-ever “Push-In” Ceremony. The celebration will be held on Tuesday, March 29th from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM with a rain date of Saturday, April 2nd from 10 AM – 11 AM. The event will take place at the Nolensville Fire Station located at 7347 Nolensville Road. Light refreshments will be available.
“This new engine is symbolic of a bright future for Nolensville Fire & Rescue”, Chief, David Windrow of Nolensville Fire & Rescue stated. “The push in ceremony is a tangible recognition that the new equipment has arrived and that the men and women of the department are thankful to the residents for providing state-of-the-art equipment.”
The traditional ‘Push-In’ Ceremony honors the history and traditions of fire departments dating back to the late 1800s where fire apparatus were horse-drawn to calls of service. Horses could not back the equipment into the firehouse; therefore, firefighters would unhitch the horses and push the apparatus into the station’s bay by hand.
“This is just the first milestone with many more to come for Nolensville Fire & Rescue”, Town of Nolensville Mayor, Derek Adams said. “Our new fire engine will provide top tier service to Nolensville for years to come!”
The state-of-the-art custom stock Pierce Enforcer fire engine includes a 1500 GPM pump, a 750-gallon water tank, a 500 HP Cummins engine as well as a custom-built medical cabinet to improve response capabilities for the department.
"This truck is an essential piece toward the support of our new full-time Fire Department”, Town Manager, Victor Lay stated. “Dependable, quick, high-quality response is the Town of Nolensville’s goal.” The Town of Nolensville established a full-time municipal fire department, Nolensville Fire & Rescue, through Ordinance 21-08 in April of 2021.
