Oakland Middle School students showcased their Service-Learning Projects today. The theme of the showcase is ‘Create Change,’ which promotes the idea that, even as eight-graders, students can make a difference in their community.
Students picked an issue or organization in the local community they wanted to help, improve or promote awareness for.
The showcase is part of the school’s Middle Years Program, which embraces working with the community, allows students to make real-world connections, and help improve or solve real-world problems.
Oakland students presented their projects to staff and other students in the morning, and an open house is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday so students may share their projects with the community.
