MURFREESBORO, TN ⎯ Mariah Phillips, an educator, businesswoman, and mother of five, is the Democrat running for County Commissioner in District 17. The newly redrawn district is between Main Street and Memorial Blvd in Murfreesboro and includes MTSU and the neighborhoods between Clark Blvd and Northfield.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to run for this office. Nothing is more impactful on our day-to-day lives then our local government,” said Phillips. “We have seen incredible enthusiasm for the campaign. Democratic turnout has increased 200% from 2016 and I know people in District 17, and across Rutherford County, are ready for leadership that focuses on equitable outcomes, compassionate decision-making, and thinking outside the box.”

“It’s time to solve our most pressing problems: support our working families with good paying jobs and affordable housing, ensuring our infrastructure can keep up with our growth, and stop kicking the can down the road on issues like the land-fill. I plan to work hard for the hardworking people and flip this seat on August 4th.”

Mariah Phillips has been on the ballot before, for State Representative and US Congress. She has a passion to serve and the work ethic to implement real change. Phillips is running to solve some of our longstanding problems in Rutherford County, where our roads and schools haven't kept up with our growth and housing prices are outpacing incomes. Mariah wants to fully fund our schools and provide our first responders with the things they need to be successful.

“I want to create a fair and equal economy for all Tennesseeans. And that begins right here at home. For more information, please visit Mariah4TN.com"
