The Murfreesboro City Schools are wrapping up their 4th week of summer school this week, which is their final week of classes. Communications director Lisa Trail said that summer school has really helped a lot of students... This year, around 800-children attended summer school, which equals almost 8.5% of the entire student body. Summer school focused on English Language Arts and Math skills.

Over that same time-frame, the schools hosted a variety of summer camps...

Perhaps a sign that schools are returning to some type of pre-COVID normal - - field trips. One of the most exciting field trips for students in summer camp this year was a trip to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We asked Trail if that was a sign that field trips would be returning to the city schools in the upcoming school year  The first full day of class for the 2022-2023 school year will be held on Monday, August 8th for city school students in grades 1 through 6th.
