(RUTHERFORD CO., TENN) - WGNS has an update on the number of Monkeypox cases in Tennessee, the case number is now up to 156. Nationwide, the number of Monkeypox cases has increased to 17,432.

COVID-19 Continues to be the Biggest Problem
To date, over 27,300 Tennesseans have died from COVID, with 930 of those deaths being confirmed in Rutherford County. Dr. Dan Rudd said that age plays a role in the increased number of deaths, along with underlying health conditions… New vaccines will be introduced over the next few weeks as residents work to ward off COVID-19. Dr. Rudd confirmed that vaccines are effective in the fight against COVID.
Over the past couple of years, 107,175 COVID cases have been reported throughout Rutherford County.
In the past week, there were 4,103 new COVID cases reported per day in Tennessee. There were also 14-COVID related deaths last week in the Volunteer State and 5 hospitalizations. Since the start of COVID-19, there have been more than 27,300 COVID related deaths in Tennessee.
