Safety, worries over federal funding, and worries over eminent domain being used as a means of land acquisition were all among the chief concerns voiced by the public at the March 7th meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council, where the group was voting to adopt the Greenways, Blueways, and Bikeways Master Plan, which outlined expansion of those systems to many times their current length, at a cost of about $104 million by the project’s end.  With close to 20 speakers, the meeting ran in excess of 2 hours and saw passionate outpour of opinions from both sides.  Ultimately, the plan was approved by a vote of 4 to 3 upon first reading, 2 more of which are required before it becomes official.  Further debate is expected as the plan moves towards a final vote.
