For a second time, a Readyville photographer has been selected to have her work displayed in the 2023 Tennessee Wildlife magazine. The winning entry that was submitted by Kimberly Koon was chosen through a photo contest that was sponsored by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The TWRA, Tennessee Wildlife magazine staff and the public, picked the picture that was captured by Koon and 11-others, to appear in the 2023 TWRA calendar, which will soon be available (Click here to buy the calendar). Koon was also selected as a winning photographer in 2021 for the 2022 calendar.

According to Tennessee Wildlife, there were a record number of submissions for the calendar that had to be narrowed to only 12-photographers. The other entries will be kept on file and those photographers could have the opportunity to appear in future agency publications and on the agency’s website.

Koon, who has worked for the Cannon County UT Extension Service for over 30-years, is a graduate of Cannon County High School. She later attended MTSU and Motlow State Community College.

The 11-other photographers with the selected entries include Frank Snyder (Athens), Eddie Johnson (Mt. Juliet), Clyde Cole (Savannah), Travis Hill Henry (Knoxville), Sharon Cardin (Nashville), Daniel Vineyard (Sevierville), Kerry Wix (Westmoreland), Joe LeDuc (Winter Haven, Fla.), Jenna Crove (Auburn Ala.), Jennifer Jenson (Bowling Green, Ky.), and Harold Jerrell (Rose Hill, Va.).

The staff of Tennessee Wildlife congratulates the winners and reminds photographers that if your photo was not chosen, next year’s entry could be a winner. Rules and deadlines for the next Tennessee Wildlife photo contest will appear in future issues of the magazine and on the TWRA website. Photographers will again be invited to submit their best photos on fishing and wildlife species native to the Volunteer State, and fishing and hunting scenes in Tennessee.
