(MURFREESBORO, TN) MPD officers have been a little busy today responding to several property damage crashes because of slick roads. One driver slid into a light pole on Penny Lane at 8 a.m. Thankfully, he was not injury.
The main streets in the city are passable, thanks to the street department prepping roads, spreading salt and plowing. However, most of the neighborhood streets are covered in a thin layer of ice.
At 8 a.m., the temperature was 1-degree, so many of the passable roads may look okay to drive-on, but are actually covered in some areas with black ice.
Officers also want to remind drivers to clean their entire windshield and side windows so they can see properly, which is an important part of driving. The MPD says, “Please slow down to 5 to 10 MPH, leave enough stopping room between you and the vehicle in front of you, and most importantly - drive with caution.
