(MURFREESBORO, TN) UPDATE - Murfreesboro Police have confirmed that two people have died as a result of a serious auto accident that occurred on Fortress Boulevard around 5 o’clock Tuesday night. The accident was directly in front of the Cross Creek at Murfreesboro apartment complex.
MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS that prior to the two accident victims dying, they were rushed by air ambulance to hospitals in Nashville…
One of the two who died in the collision was a 68-year-old disabled man who was riding as a passenger in a 2019 Dodge Caravan. He was flown to TriStar Skyline Hospital in Nashville. The second man who died in the wreck was only 37-years-old. Police say he was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck. The man was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Preliminary reports indicate a 62-year-old female who was driving a Dodge Caravan on Fortress Boulevard, drove partially into the oncoming lane of traffic. Police reported the woman, who was driving in the southbound lane, allegedly failed to maintain her lane of travel and crossed into the northbound lane. After crossing into the northbound lane, she collided with the GMC pickup truck. As of Wednesday evening, the female driver was listed at the hospital as stable. However, her 68-year-old passenger was killed, as was the 37-year-old driver of the GMC pickup truck.
Charges against the driver could be pending, according to FACT investigators... Again, the Tuesday evening crash remains under investigation. CLICK to see earlier stories.
