Murfreesboro, TN - Murfreesboro Police responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon that involved an overturned SUV. The wreck was near the intersection of South Church Street and South Rutherford Boulevard.
Public Information Officer Larry Flowers said the wreck involved a black Nissan Versa and a Gray Jeep Compass in front of Wendy’s at 12:52 p.m. Flowers stated, “The Versa flipped, trapping the driver.” The Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department responded to the scene and firefighters extricated the occupant. Flowers confirmed, “The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.” The driver of the Jeep Compass was accessed on the scene but was not transported to the hospital.
The preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Versa was on S. Church attempting to make a left turn into the Wendy’s parking lot. Two lanes of traffic stopped to let the driver through. The driver of the Jeep Compass was in the third lane of traffic and didn’t see the driver turning, which was when the two vehicles collided. Police report the driver of the Nissan Versa was cited for failure to yield, and the driver of the Jeep Compass was cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
