Alleged Cat Theft Reported in the 'Boro

Murfreesboro, TN - Here’s a story you don’t hear everyday… live animal shoplifting. A man and a woman entered PetSmart on Old Fort Parkway near the Home Depot store and made their way to the cats. The two subjects were armed with a small dog that was on a white leash when the entered the pet store.

Murfreesboro Detectives say the incident was reported on Tuesday (February 21, 2023). Workers at the store say the couple took a gray and white adolescent Calico cat that was in a cage. The cat was in the pet adoption area and actually belonged to the Dove Rock Sanctuary, an adoption agency responsible for the placement of the cat.

Now, authorities are working with PetSmart to figure out the names of the couple that allegedly stole the cat.
