Rutherford County, TN - Just before 4:45 on Monday afternoon, at least 9,300 customers with Middle Tennessee Electric lost their power. Amy Byers, the Public Relations Coordinator for Middle Tennessee Electric told WGNS News, “A Tennessee Valley Authority transmission outage resulted in disrupted power to about 9,300 MTE members in West Murfreesboro, lasting about 34 minutes this afternoon. MTE crews assisted TVA to repair the problem, which included downed TVA transmission lines. TVA is investigating the cause.”
Shortly after the issue, another problem arose. Larry Rose with MTE told WGNS, "About 400 Middle Tennessee Electric members will be out of power from 9:30 p.m. to approximately 1:30 a.m. in the south Smyrna area as MTE crews work to repair damage to lines caused by a TVA transmission disruption. The affected areas are east of I-24 and south of Lee Victory Parkway. MTE very much regrets the inconvenience to these members, but the repairs are urgently required for safety. MTE has attempted to notify all affected members."
