(SMYRNA, TN)  The son of a Smyrna firefighter passed away from a rare cancer. Braxton Harrell was surround by family when he passed away at 6:27PM Friday evening (4/21/2023).

Braxton was 14 in late July, 2018, when he suddenly started feeling very sick with severe back pain. There was no relief from chiropractic treatments.

His parents, Lt. Stacey Harrell and Jerri Harrell, knew something was wrong, so they took him to the ER. That’s when they learned that Braxton had a rare form of cancer, Disseminated Leptomeningeal Glioneuronal Tumor.

Chemotherapy was quickly started and the outpouring of love and support was felt by Braxton and his family daily.  He lived almost 5-additional years, and had wonderful dreams come true.

He was a Seattle Seahawks fam, and one-day a signed helmet from quarterback Russell Wilson, one of his favorite athletes, arrived in the mail.

Governors, athletes, and other dignitaries made tributes to Braxton and encouraged more prayers.

The Smyrna Fire Department was handing out “Pray for Braxton” bracelets.

Knowing the community was praying for him, gave peace to the family.

Again, Braxton Harrell’s final breath came Friday evening. Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna is in charge of the arrangements. They will be announced later.
