Murfreesboro Police Respond to Shooting on University Street - One Person Shot in Leg

MURFREESBORO, TN - At about 10-minutes after 5 on Friday evening, Murfreesboro Police responded to a shots fired call on University Street at Sun Circle. Upon arrival, police found a female victim who was shot in the leg. Authorities say the victim was transported to the hospital and as of 6:45 Friday night, she was listed in stable condition.

After the shooting, the nearby Patterson Park Community Center had to be placed on lock-down as a precaution. The community center sits just two blocks in front of the intersection of where the shooting was reported.

During the investigation into the shooting, an MTSU Police K9 assisted by tracking the scent of a possible suspect or suspects.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses to find out what occurred and why? Meanwhile, the search for the suspect(s) continues. The MPD confirmed the investigation is ongoing.
