During the first half of the program, CBS news highlights June 19th, known as JuneTeenth - and WGNS' Scott Walker spoke to Vonchelle Stembridge about the historic Bradley Academy in Murfreesboro, the first African American School in Rutherford County.

On the second portion of today's show, WGNS headed to the National Library of Congress. There, we listened to one of several interviews with a man who was once a slave. In 1949, Mr. Fountain Hughes talked to Hermond Norwood about life as a slave, followed by life as a free man in the 20th Century.
