SMYRNA, Tennessee— A woman arrested in Smyrna for second degree murder is scheduled to face the Rutherford County Courts next week. Court records show Kristen Tweed has a court hearing in the Circuit Courtroom of Judge James Turner next Friday, July 7th.
In March of 2021, Smyrna Police were dispatched to the Sleep Inn on Highwood Boulevard where they found a deceased woman. The subsequent investigation revealed a drug overdose was the cause of death.
The Criminal Investigation Division developed a suspect, gathered evidence, and the Rutherford County grand jury handed down an indictment for Kristen Tweed. The suspect was placed under arrest the following year on February 11, 2022. The 37-year-old was charged with second degree murder and felony drug sales. When arrested, Tweed was already a convicted felon.
Tweed is being represented by attorney Thomas Parkerson. The woman is currently free on bond. Again, Tweed is scheduled to appear in court next Friday, July 7, 2023.
