Over 1,700 Homes/Businesses Were Without Power Monday Night

MURFREESBORO, TN - There was a large power outage in Murfreesboro on Monday night. 1,717 Addresses in Murfreesboro lost their electricity around 8:20 in the evening. A large percentage of those outages were in the area of Northfield and Memorial Boulevard.

The outages were caused by a bad underground cable at the Jones Substation off of Northfield Boulevard, according to Amy Byers with Middle Tennessee Electric. About an hour after the outages began, the number of affected homes and businesses dropped down to 344. By 9:30 Monday night, Middle Tennessee Electric had the outage isolated to the area around Haynes Haven Lane off of Memorial Boulevard.
