UPDATE - SHELBYVILLE, TN – WGNS has more news on Patricia Sylvester in Shelbyville. She is the woman who allegedly killed her 11-year-old son Esteban Sylvester and reportedly tried to end the life of her 4-year-old as well... That was Deputy Chief Brian Crews with the Shelbyville Police Department. Crews said, “We’re fortunate he’s still with us today.”

Reports indicate the mother tied-up her 11-year-old's feet and held him down while strangling him to death. She then tried the same on her 4-year-old, wrapping twine around his neck, but stopped when he started screaming and crying, according to investigators.

The night before the mother was captured, authorities say that Esteban's father found his son's lifeless body in their Barksdale Lane home...According to police, the 32-year-old mother tried to conceal and cover-up evidence, prior to fleeing the Bedford County area with Estaban’s 4-year-old brother. She allegedly strangled Esteban and then drove to Coffee County.

After the mother was arrested on Tuesday, she was transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

Again, this is still an active investigation. The mother is being held under a $2-million bond.
